Desi Vs Pardesi

Though i created an account in blogger long ago, i didnt write anything, as i felt lazy at that time to even write what i was feeling! But today, i just happen to see on of my friend's blog which gave me a little bit of inspiration. After seeing that blog, i felt..ok, now just lets keep my laziness backfoot and push my hands to typein something! Often, ppl have in mind, who is leading a better life, a Desi (a guy living in India) or a Pardesi (A guy living in America or any other country). I had experienced quite a few things during my stay in US last year and here it goes:

A Desi Feels:

  1. Though i work in similar way as Pardesi, i am getting meagre salary in india.
  2. Indian Traffic conditions are worse, Frequent traffic jams happen.
  3. Pollution is unbearable in cities and adding to it, infectious diseases, Chickun Gunya, Conjunctivitis etc.

  4. Long, tiring journey daily from home to office and back, spending almost 3 hours a day on an average for commuting to office.
  5. Working in US, UK etc gives better life style, better pay package and adding to it, no pollution :)

  6. To sum it up, India is Hell and any other country is Heaven!

A Pardesi feels:

  1. Ok Wait a minute, i am getting good money, no traffic jams, no pollution but not a better lifestyle! I have to cook my own food(if not married), clean my own house, wash my own clothes, repair my own car etc.

  2. I have all the wealth but my near and dear ones (parents, close friends, relatives) are not anymore near to me! They are miles far away and will only get a chance to meet them once in a year or so.

  3. Mobile Phone is the only best friend/companion as it creates a virtual communication to my near and dear ones. I am leading a very boring life.

  4. Very few people around me and so feel little space to socialize, party etc.

  5. Losing all important Indian rituals, customs, culture and food!

  6. To sum it up, Though US is not hell, it is not heaven either :).
So, at the end of the day, both have their own advantages and disadvantages. I feel it is better to feel happy in the place where you are and try to change yourself. Be content with what you have and work for what you want !

nice comparison. always thinks about the disadvantages but dont see the positives....

I too faced the similar situation when I was in US last year, but this year came here with positive mindset, so no worries. anyways missing my family, friends a lot.. I never see those moments here in US.
